AWCA Kihwa Scholarship 2022

The 2022 Kihwa Scholarship Committee is currently accepting applications from current full-time (undergraduate) or (graduate) school students who are dedicated in their education as well as community service but struggle due to disadvantaged/challenging circumstances in their pursuit of higher learning.

The Kihwa Scholarship is currently in its 19th year and is named after its founder Ms. Kihwa Kwak. Ms. Kwak passed away in the spring of 2020, but her desire to encourage and financially support the dreams of  students in need continues.

The total amount for this competitive scholarship fund is $6,000, which will be given to (2) recipients in the amount of $3,000 each for the upcoming school year.

Eligibility:

• Current college or graduate school students
• Evidence of commitment to improving the community through service
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Full-time enrollment in regular degree program (min 12 hrs/semester)
• Completion of at least 24 credit hours by end of spring semester of each year
• Must have completed a a full year at a 4 year institution
• Based on Korean descendance & study of interest

Required Documents:

• Completed Application Form
• Resume / Curriculum Vitae
• 100 volunteer hours within past 4 years
• (2) Official Letters of recommendation
• Current School Transcript(s)
• Essay / Personal Statement 2-3 pages (on Volunteerism, Prospective Degree, etc)

Registration Period:

• Starts: Monday, June 6
• Ends: Friday, July 15 by 5PM

2022 AWCA 기화장학금

AWCA에서는 어려운 환경가운데서도 꿈을 이루기 위해 노력하는 대학생 및 대학원생을 대상으로 2022 기화장학금을 받을 학생들의 신청을 받습니다. 기화장학금은 장학금 기금을 기증하신 분의 이름을 따서 만들었으며 올해로 19회를 맞습니다. 작년 봄에 곽기화선생님께서는 소천하셨지만, 그분의 뜻은 앞으로도 계속해서 이어질 것입니다.

장학금은 모두 $6,000로 2명의 학생에게 일인당 $3,000씩 전달됩니다.

지원자격:

• 미국내 대학생 및 대학원생
  성적 3.0 이상
  지난 4년동안 100시간의 자원봉사시간

제출서류:

• 신청서
  자기소개서
  추천서(2매)
  성적증명서
  영문에세이 (Volunteerism, 등) 2-3pages

장학금 수여식:

• 8월 11일(화) 오전 11:30am
  장소: AWCA 회관
  장학금 신청자 서류는 7월 15일 금요일 오후 5시까지 들어온 서류에 한합니다.
